Ol’ Skool Sunday 10 October 2011

Growing up in Virginia, i often enjoyed hearing Go-Go music, which is indigenous to Washington, DC. Having been in the Midnorth (Illinois) for so long, i haven’t listened to Go-Go in quite some time. This first song is one of my favorite Go-Go jams! Then on to some soouuul skool and jazz/folk that i’ve been rocking this week!

– Brotha Onaci

Pure Elegance, “One Leg Up”

Marvin Gaye, “What’s Going On/What’s Happening Brother” (i love this video)

Hugh Masekela, “Stimela”

So, i’ve also been listening to Miriam Makeba, “Liwa Wechi.” I couldn’t find that song on youtube, but found this brief documentary.
