I often state, in the conversations i have with the youth i work, that “there’s a whole WORLD of music out there waiting for you.” Within that world, there are artists like Muhsinah (one of my favorite artists over the last few years). She has innovative music, clever lyrics, and refuses to compromise her artistic expression for the sake of selling records. If Muhsinah, and several artists like her, had the radio play, fan support, record label dollars to promote, etc., i think the world would be in a much better state.
Some people may just think that i’m an obsessed fan. But, i really think that her music is that good. Don’t take my word for it. If you don’t like it, i’ll make you a tasty vegan treat to make up for the time you wasted downloading (for FREE) and listening.
